Dene Meadow
Visit a native meadow in Central Park.
The Dene Slope is a beautiful native meadow located in the Dene, a landscape between 65th and 69th Streets on the East Side near 5th Avenue. The Conservancy constructed the meadow which takes years for the native grasses and wildflowers to take hold.
Meadows keep in spirit with the original vision of Olmsted’s and Vaux’s plans for the park and its meadows to have an uplifting effect on the human soul. This tranquil spot located in one of the busiest sections of the Park does just that. Some paths lead to rustic seating with magnificent views where you can sit and relax.
The meadows bring additional value and environmental benefits; they support a broader diversity of wildlife, attracting birds, bees, and other pollinators.
The Dene Slope is open daily. Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
The trail is accessible by wheelchair between the western entrance to the Dene Slope (near the East Drive at 66th Street) and the bench.
