Location: MAP 170 Central Park West Phone: (212) 873-3400
The New York Historical Society is considered New York's first museum. As a matter of fact, at the time of its opening in 1804, hyphenating the name of the city was the popular thing and the institution has not changed the title to this day.
The museum boasts the Center for Women's History, an extensive collection of artworks, a library, and a children's museum.
