The Met Roof Garden 2023
After a year off, the Met's Roof Garden returns to art installations with a view.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art's summer of 2023 addition to the Roof Garden is a commission by artist Lauren Halsey. Inspired part by the Temple of Dendur exhibit inside the museum as well as by her family and the communal spaces of Black-owned businesses in South Central Los Angeles, where Halsey grew up.
The New York Times calls the display "one of the best in the Met’s 10-year series of annual Roof Garden commissions".
Visitors are invited to bask in the impressive views of the Manhattan skyline and Central Park while taking in Halsey's work. The Roof Garden Commission is a must-see for art lovers and anyone seeking an immersive and thought-provoking experience.
Exhibitions are free with Museum admission.
The Cantor Rooftop Garden's Spring reopening occurred on Tuesday, April 18. The Bar reopened on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
