Lincoln Center
The Oasis at Lincoln Center
A wide variety of cultural community events are celebrated at Lincoln Center's Summer for the City.
Lincoln Center, located about a block and a half from the W 65th Street entrance to Central Park, had been known at times to offer (mostly free) outdoor events in years past.
In 2022, the institution united all their efforts through a new annual program called Summer for the City. Over 300 events brought people together through a variety of settings and genres, from the city's largest outdoor dance floor to an underground speakeasy with comedy, poetry and jazz performances, plus so much more.
Below is a small selection of events that ran at Summer for the City 2022:
- Free Social Dance at The Oasis - A wide variety of social dance events including tutorials, top-tier DJs and live musical bands. Tango, salsa, disco, ballroom, swing, Lindy hop and much more.
- Free Events for Kids and Families - Activities for young audiences and their families. Poetry readings, dance workshops, teaching artists, family-friendly concerts, and more.
- Outdoor Cinema at Hearst Plaza - Cinema under the stars with spacious seating, a huge screen, on site concessions and high-fidelity headphones.
- Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra - Free outdoor concerts in Damrosch Park, and pay-what-you-like performances in Alice Tully Hall.
We can't wait for Summer for the City 2023 to be upon us! Check back soon for details.
