New weekend Central Park will host two big events for runners. The 16th Annual Concern Spring Run will be held on Saturday, April 12. The four-mile run and walk is a fundraiser for the humanitarian group, the efforts of which are aimed at improving the conditions of people living in the world's poorest countries and areas affected by war, conflict, and natural disaster.
Concern hopes to raise $215,000 from this year's run, through pledges, donations and registration fees.
Sunday, April 13th, the park will hold the 11th More Magazine/Fitness Magazine Women's Half Marathon. Surrounded by a morning's worth of fitness and beuty events and treats, this is the largest all-women's half-marathon in the country. Olympic marathon bronze medalist and current record holder of the American marathon and half-marathon, Deena Kastor will be returning to defend her title, along with an expected 200,000 participants and spectators.
