Sudden Cold Temperatures Cause Some Bats to Fall to the Ground in Central Park

Nov 22, 2022 - Officials from the NY Parks Department say the bats can temporarily go into shock from sudden cold weather which can cause them to drop from the trees.

As temperatures warm up during the day, so do the bats and they can gain control of their muscles and fly off. 

Park rangers ask if you see a bat on the ground, do not touch it, call 311 and inform the responders so they can help the bats safely.
