It’s not uncommon for people to get directionally confused as they walk through Central Park. Fortunately, there’s a simple navigation method that you can follow.
Look for the numerical codes on the base of each lamp post in the park. The first two or three numbers tell you which street you’re closest to. The last number tells you if you’re on the East or West side of the park. Odd means West, and even means East.
So, for example, with the lamp post shown above, "6104" means you're close to 61st Street on the East side.
