When we walk through Central Park we might appreciate the beauty of the fauna, but do not give it much thought after that. According to an article in the New York Times, we are not alone. Until now, no one has bothered to colect the flora in Central Park.
Daniel Atha, the conservation program manager at the New York Botanical Garden, can be found in waders, documenting and collecting every naturally occurring plant in Central Park. Joining him in this project is Regina V. Alvarez, a former director of horticulture and woodland management for the Central Park Conservancy, a nonprofit group, and now an adjunct professor at Queensborough Community College.
