The West Side Rag reports that The New York Lawn Bowling Club, the oldest and the largest operating outdoor lawn bowling club in the Northeast, is proud to announce the 90th anniversary of its founding. To mark this historic occasion, the club is celebrating with an invitation to all New Yorkers to join in a sport steeped in history, tradition, competition and camaraderie.
Joining is easy and remarkably affordable, given that it would appear to the casual observer to be a haven of the moneyed elite. “Mortimer, it’s time for our lawn bowling match with the Rockefellers!” It costs just over $100 for the season, and that includes a NYC Parks Department permit to use the greens and access to club equipment and social events.
They would like to invite their neighbors to join them on Saturday, May 7th as they kick off their summer 2016 season. Furthermore, everyone is invited to learn more about the pastime and learn ‘how we roll’ every Monday at 5pm in May and June to try their hand at bowling.
