Feb 24th, 2024 - New York has lost another well-loved celebrity bird - this time due to a building crash.
Flaco was a Eurasian Eagle-Owl who had become an NYC symbol of freedom and resilience after his release by a vandal who cut the wire mesh of his cage in February of 2023. His ability to adapt and survive against the odds served as inspiration to many as he prevailed.
The 1-year anniversary of his release had just passed on Feb 2, 2024.
Unfortunately, his life came to an end when he crashed into a building on West 89th Street on the night of February 23rd.
