New York.Com has put together the definitive guide to the Thanksgiving Day Parade. This includes a brief history, as well as what is new for 2015 and where to go.
What started as a local neighborhood event, has become a popular event to go to the night before the parade, and that is to watch the giant balloon inflation. It is open to the public and takes place from 3pm to 10pm on November 25 at 77th Street and 81st Street between Central Park West and Columbus Ave (enter at 79th St. and Columbus Ave.)
The parade kicks off from 77th Street and Central Park West at 9am, then heads south to 59th Street (Central Park South), where it makes a westward turn to Sixth Avenue (Avenue of the Americas). From there, it’s a long march down to 34th Street and a quick turn east into Herald Square, ending at Macy’s flagship store (Herald Square, 151 W 34th Street).
