As reported on DNAinfo.com, the newest Public Art Fund piece will make its debut September 10th. A 16-foot-tall clock — with a face rotating counter-clockwise and its hands moving at correct time — will go on displayat the Doris C. Freedman Plaza (59th and Fifth Avenue).
The Public Art Fund, is a non-profit dedicated to funding temporary exhibitions in public spaces. Currently on view is Desire Lines that show ropes that have been wound onto 212 wooden spools and mounted on three large racks. The combined lengths of the ropes featured in the work are approximately equal to the total length of the paths in the park.
The upcoming exhibit is a take on the classic New York City street clock that is meant to challenge the public's visual perceptions by "confounding" passersby as they check for the time.
