A blog called Computational Story Lab, on the website onehappybird.com, conducted an unscientific study on half a million of 2011’s happiest geotagged tweets from Manhattan to find that the happiest spot is just inside the western edge of Central Park, north of the lake and east of Hayden Planetarium. Tweets were evaluated by the positive terminology employed such as “love” and “sky” and a less common use of negative terms such as “not”, “fear” and “no”.
Many of the happiest locations were located within Central Park, with those on the west side showing to be slightly happier than those on the east, and a decline in happiness found as you move further uptown.
