Almost 500 guests turned out this past Tuesday night to celebrate the Central Park Conservancy's Autumn in Central Park party in a tent at the Naumburg Bandshell. Normally held every year, last year's event was cancelled due to Superstorm Sandy. This year the event was back to raise over $1 million for the park. President and CEO of the Central Park Conservancy, Doug Blonsky, will be directing the group's focus over the next few years toward first renovating playgrounds and, then, refurbishing the park's woodlands.
The event was a tribute to both autumn and the park, with seasonal decor, lush trees and shrubs, and benches from Central Park - which guests could adopt for $7,500. Unlike most fundraisers, the Autumn in Central Park party doesn't have speeches or honorees, and "is meant to feel like a fun private party with cocktails, dinner and dancing," according to event chair Gillian Miniter.
