The Wall Street Journal reported on Central Park Conservancy’s annual Autumn in Central Park gala near the Naumburg Bandshell. Almost every New Yorker has a favorite spot in Central Park. But perhaps no one knows the ins and outs of the park better than Doug Blonsky, president and chief executive of the Central Park Conservancy.
The event raised more than $1.1 million. The money will help restore, manage and enhance the 843-acre park. Three-quarters of Central Park’s funding comes from private sources, according to the conservancy.
Mr. Blonsky said major capital improvements are under way for the woodlands and playgrounds. In honor of those changes, Northern Trust, a sponsor of the event, donated a sapling for each guest to be planted in the park’s woodlands. Guests had their choice of a dogwood, sourwood or white pine.
