October 31, 2024 - Experts say the sight of bald eagles soaring through New York is becoming more common. A viral video shows the national bird of the USA bathing in the middle of the Central Park Reservoir before taking flight to a nearby tree.
The growing population of bald eagles in New York is from a significant resurgence in what was once a struggling population. Conservation efforts since their near mid-century extinction helped save them, and now hundreds of pairs are estimated to be nesting throughout the five boroughs.
Rodenticide — which many believe contributed to Central Park owl Flaco’s death - is still a threat to their existence though.
