Rebeccah Wassner crosses the finish line
More than 3,400 people participated in the Nautica New York City Triathlon on Sunday, July 18th.
Battling the course, which consisted of a 10 kilometer run, 40 kilometer bike ride and 1.5 kilometer swim, is usually the most difficult part of the race, but this year, with the hottest temperatures in the race's history, the heat proved more difficult.
Twelve athletes had to be hospitalized, but the others finished strong racing through the finish line in Central Park.
Rebeccah Wassner, in the women's division, and Filip Osaly, in the men's division, claimed victory.
