An entrance at the northern end of Central Park will be named the Gate of the Exonerated, for the teenagers who were wrongfully convicted of a crime that sparked a national conversation on racial injustice.
“This gate of the exonerated will be … the first of its kind within the United States and possibly in the world that speaks to the idea of exoneration of people,” said Sharonne Salaam, mother of one of the accused while testifying during the city hall hearing.
