Constructed in 1864 by Calvert Vaux in collaboration with the Cornell Ironworks, the SouthEast Reservoir Bridge #24 (East 85th Street) is a cast iron and steel pedestrian bridge carrying a park path over the bridle path south of the Reservoir.
Notable for its flat platform as opposed to the arched design typical of other cast iron bridges in Central Park; it underwent a significant reconstruction in 1989, including the replacement of its concrete deck with a tongue and groove wood deck and the installation of new railings to replicate the original ones from 1865, akin to its counterpart, the South West Reservoir Bridge.
