Wreath Exhibit at the Arsenal
The Arsenal Gallery is holding its 42nd annual Wreath Interpretations exhibit.
On the third floor of the Arsenal Building in Central Park, you'll find a most unusual collection of holiday wreaths.
This year, more than 30 eclectic interpretations of the traditional holiday decoration have been handcrafted by Parks employees, artists, designers, and individuals of all ages using an unexpected assortment of materials, such as faux fireworks, popsicle sticks, snack bags, thumbtacks, money, dried fruits, miscellaneous scraps, found objects, and more.
Each wreath is accompanied by a short artist statement that tells gallery visitors about the meaning behind the wreath, which explore a wide range of themes, such as environmental issues, food and cooking, holidays, and memorials.
Most wreaths are available for purchase, ranging from $40 to $6,000. A portion of the sales proceeds goes to support the gallery and the Parks’ public art programming.
The Arsenal Gallery is located on the third floor of NYC Parks’ headquarters in Central Park.
Admission is FREE.
Note: The Arsenal Gallery will be closed on December 25th and January 1st.
