Works & Progress, who support artists from all backgrounds will showcase Dorrance Dance.

Works & Process, a performing arts organization that supports artists from all backgrounds and stages of their careers presents Dorrance Dance, a contemporary tap dance company led by Michelle Dorrance, a MacArthur “Genius” grant recipient.

In this program, the company will perform "45th & 8th," one of three new pieces Dorrance premiered at the Joyce Theater last year. The piece draws its name from where Dorrance and musical director Aaron Marcellus first met, just a short distance away from Central Park.

Marcellus leads a four-piece band on keyboards and vocals, using an electronic controller to loop and layer his voice live on stage, creating a conversation with the dancers’ movements that combines composition and improvisation.
