The Public Theater is elated to celebrate 400 years of William Shakespeare’s legacy with Free Shakespeare in the Park, beginning in May, as well as other affordable Bard programming at Astor Place and the Delacorte Theater
Tony nominee LaTanya Richardson Jackson and more have been tapped for the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park production of The Taming of the Shrew. Tony nominee Phyllida Lloyd will direct the all-female incarnation, starring Cush Jumbo and Janet McTeer. In honor of the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, they will begin performances on May 24 and officially open on June 14 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.
Tickets to Shakespeare in the Park are always free to the public. Up to two tickets per person can be acquired in-person on the day of a performance when the box office opens at noon, up until curtain time. Please note that people do line up for tickets early as there is a limited availability. Alternatively, online reservations can be made by lottery for every performance.
