Celebrate New Year's Eve at the NYRR Midnight Run.
Due to the ongoing drought, firework shows will not take place in Central Park or Prospect Park this year. See below for details.
There's more than one way to have fun on New Year's Eve and taking part in the annual NYRR Midnight Run is one!
In past years, approximately 4,000 runners and even more spectators have attended this event in good cheer, many donning costumes.
While the 4-mile race is typically accompanied by a fireworks show, this year's light show will instead commemorate the end of the run with 500 drones displaying images related to running.
The show will only be visible within the event’s “frozen zone,” which is on the 72nd Street Transverse, south of Bethesda Fountain. This area will only be open to registered runners and one guest per participant.
