The 2024 NYC Marathon offers excitement for runners and spectators alike.

The world’s largest marathon is one of NYC’s most anticipated and iconic annual sporting events, attracting over three million spectators from around the world. Beginning in Staten Island, 50,000+ runners will make their way through all five boroughs of New York.

Central Park is home to the last three miles of the race, including the finish line on West Drive at West 67th Street, next to the Tavern on the Green restaurant.

Central Park will be buzzing with excitement and packed with runners, spectators, and race officials.

SPECTATOR TIPS

For spectators seeking a prime spot, 5th Avenue and 90th Street is ideal as it provides a good view up 5th Avenue. Remember to bring your own food, as there are limited delis, bodegas, or cafés nearby.

Note: For runners, this is a challenging point as they will already have hit "the dreaded wall," so offering encouragement here as they make their entry into Central Park via Engineer's Gate can be particularly uplifting.

MORE RACE DAY TIPS

Here are some tips, courtesy of verywellfit.com for maneuvering around the park on race day:

• Crossing Park Drive (where the runners will be) is prohibited. Get to the other side by instead going underneath it, using these underpasses: Greywacke Arch at 80th Street, Trefoil Arch at 73rd Street, Willowdell Arch at 67th Street, and Inscope Arch at 62nd Street.
• Get a spot in the park between East 90th and East 86th streets. This area is a little less crowded than points further south, and you'll be able to get across the park via the Transverse Road at 85th Street.
• Park Drive below East 72nd Street gets crowded. Instead, you can have more space at East Green at East 69th Street, plus quick access to the 65th Street Transverse.
