The NYC Marathon makes a comeback for its 50th anniversary in November 2021!
The announcement comes as a welcome respite to the challenging previous year New Yorkers endured. Once again the five boroughs of New York City will be full of participants running the 26.2 miles of the NYC Marathon. This year the annual race will be held on November 7th with a modified field of just 33,000 runners. The upcoming race will mark the New York Marathon's 50th anniversary.
On race weekend, you’ll see runners from all over the world doing pre-race shakeout runs and taking pictures at the finish line in Central Park.
Health and safety precautions for this year's race will include "social distancing, elimination of touchpoints, enhanced health and safety protocols, and testing and tracing," according to the NYRR.
All runners should also be prepared to provide either proof of being fully vaccinated or a negative COVID-19 test prior to the start of the race. Additionally, the fourth annual Virtual New York City Marathon will also return in October, with registration opening on June 10th.
