NYC LGBT Pride Rally at SummerStage
to
As the kick-off to the annual Pride Week in New York City, Central Park's Rumsey Playfield, at 72nd Street and 5th Avenue, will host a rally on Saturday, June 19th. Sponsored by NYC & Company and Heritage of Pride, Inc., the theme of the 2010 festivities will be "Liberty and Justice for All."
The rally will take place from 4 -8 PM and is free and open to all. Although the complete lineup has not been announced yet, well-known performers and motivational speakers from the LGBT community have been promised to get the party started.
Slated to perform are Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Martha Wash, the New York Gay Men's Chorus, Vickie Shaw, Bille Myers, Brice Vilanch and more.
This is the first year that the Rally is occurring in Central Park. Since its beginning, one month after the Stonewall Riots of 1969, the event has taken place in Washington Square Park. From 1997 through 2009, the rally was held further uptown in Bryant Park.
