French Music Festival at SummerStage
to
The French music festival Vieilles Charrues will come to Central Park SummerStage on Oct. 1 for its 25th anniversary. The Avener, Matthieu Chedid, and the Celtic Social Club will perform.
The festival is based in Carhaix, France, and has featured Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, and Snoop Dogg in years past. The New York lineup, in contrast, will focus on French musicians. The Nice-born producer The Avener will perform house and electro; Mr. Chedid, from Paris, will sing pop-rock. The Celtic Social Club, inspired by counterparts in Buena Vista and New Orleans, will perform music from the Brittany region of France.
Vieilles Charrues is the latest international import to arrive at Rumsey Playfield at SummerStage, after events including the Chinese Modern Sky Festival, Taiwanese Waves, and Yiddish Kulturfest. Another French festival, France Rocks Summerfest, also premiered in New York this year.
This is a ticketed event. Early Bird General admission $25, VIP $250. All ages welcomed.
