See this year's 13-foot Origami Holiday Tree in all its splendor!
An annual tradition, the cherished Origami Holiday Tree has marked the start of the holiday season at the Museum for more than 40 years.
The theme of this year's Origami Holiday Tree is "Proboscideans on Parade," and the tree is decorated with handmade origami models inspired by its current featured exhibition: The Secret World of Elephants.
Garlands and origami models of elephants in many different shapes, shades and sizes are located on, around, under, and beside the tree. There is also an elephant quilt positioned behind the tree, adding an additional layer of depth to the installation.
Over 1,000 origami models of elephants and elephant relatives, as well as other creatures from the museum, decorate the tree. These hand-folded paper models were created by local, national, and international origami artists.
