NYC Mask recommendations or requirements (as of Nov 2022):
- In New York City, masks are optional on subways and buses run by the MTA, as announced by New York’s governor on Sept. 7th.
- Masks are not required at indoor restaurants, gyms, or entertainment venues UNLESS the venue requires it.
- Individual businesses can still require proof of vaccination to enter via the city's Health Department.
- Masks are optional in Broadway Theaters, audience members are still encouraged to wear them. There are a few scheduled showings that require masks for those who prefer to go to the theater only if the whole audience is masked. Check the policies before you go as each theater and even each performance can differ.
- Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask when in a health care setting. Masks are also required inside group residential facilities, including nursing homes and homeless shelters.
