They provide a diverse collection of learning experiences that draw on the park’s rich history, its amazing array of flora and fauna and its wide range of topographical features. These facilities are employed to impart to both young and older park goers a respect for the surrounding environment and the ways in which they can help preserve them.

Continuing Education :The Central Park Conservancy, in partnership with The Horticultural Society of New York and the Museum of Arts & Design, is pleased to present Continuing Education courses.

Walking Tours: Want to learn more about Central Park? Discover the Park's history, ecology and design on free, volunteer-led walking tours sponsored by the Central Park Conservancy. During our year-round tour season, the Conservancy offers at least ten different walking tours that show visitors several areas of Central Park.

Central Park Across The Curriculum: CPAC offers educators from all disciplines and levels the opportunity to use our vast educational resources to lead their own learning experiences in New York City's outdoor classroom. A $150 fee for the first year includes the initial teacher workshop, a resource binder with over 100 pages of activities and tips for leading outdoor lessons, regular updates and additional lessons via a special CPAC educators' listserv, and yearlong access to 6 resource kits: Art & Design, Birding, Geology, History & Social Studies, Pond Study, and Trees & Flowers.

Central Park Scholars: The Central Park Conservancy has embarked on an exciting new Saturday enrichment program for middle school students. It is designed specifically for students who are in need of more individual attention, extra academic instruction, and opportunities for success, in creative, academic, physical, and group endeavors. In addition to academic instruction, this free program also includes recreational activities, community service opportunities, and programming with other NYC cultural institutions. We are currently recruiting sixth and seventh graders for Fall 2005. For more information, please call 212-360-1403.

Education for School Groups: Central Park's landscapes, wildlife, water bodies, and ecosystems are New York City's premier outdoor classrooms. The Conservancy education programs have made maximum use of the Park's resources for study across the curriculum. Instruction is innovative, hands-on, and inquiry-based.

The Conservancy offers a series of unforgettable educational programs where students learn from and enjoy the unique natural and cultural resources in parks. Exciting pre- and post-visit classroom activities enhance students' learning, both in the Park and in the classroom. Each class is 90 minutes.

For more information or to register, please call 212-360-1470.

Community Service Programs: Opportunities are available to individual high school students (ages 14 - 19) and youth groups (of middle school and high school age) to participate in an ongoing restoration project in the Hallett Nature Sanctuary. Registration is required.

High School Students : NYC high school students ages 14 - 19 are invited to join the Central Park Conservancy's Youth Leadership Programs. These programs allow teens to go behind the scenes and get involved in the most famous park in the world. Registration is required. Through the Women's Committee of the Central Park Conservancy, virtual field trips of Central Park are available for grades 1 through 3.
