The initial schedule for the Central Park's SummerStage has just been released. As would be expected by anyone that has followed the performances over the years it is an eclectic and varied lineup. Everyone from Seun Kuti (youngest son of Femi Kuti) to math-rockers Battles to Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings will perform.

With one event scheduled for each weekend this summer, SummerStage will feature 30 (mostly free) performances, including poetry evenings, the Annual Latin Alternative Music Conference, and six benefit concerts, where both Thievery Corporation and Crosby, Stills & Nash are scheduled to play.

The full lineup of artists for 2008 will be released later in the spring.
