The road of eternal bliss !
Explore Central Park on roads without cars!
As of June 27th, 2018, cars are no longer allowed on the drives in Central Park. This means the roads are now reserved for runners, walkers, cyclists, skaters, scooters, pedicabs, and horse carriages.
The park drives are roads which circle the entire park and provide a paved route for transportation from one end of the park to another.
Park Drive Locations
There are four main drives in Central Park. The two longest drives, East Drive and West Drive - span the outermost portions of the park. The two shorter drives - Center Drive and Terrace Drive - allow for convenient connections between the east and west sides of the park.
Additionally, a giant 6.03-mile loop is formed where Center Drive connects the East Drive and West Drive. This loop and its numerous smaller variations are quite popular among runners and cyclists.
East Drive: From 5th Avenue and Central Park South to Central Park North and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd
West Drive: From Central Park North and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd to Central Park South and 7th Avenue
Center Drive: From 6th Avenue and Central Park South to East Drive, and from West Drive to East Drive
Terrace Drive: From 72nd Street and 5th Avenue to 72nd Street and Central Park West
Park Drive Regulations
Cyclists must ride in a counterclockwise direction.
Runners are encouraged to go counterclockwise, but technically both directions are allowed.
