"Still Hunt" by Jay_Singer
Still Hunt
Still Hunt is a bronze statue of a panther perched up high on a large stone along Central Park's East Drive. It has appeared to be getting ready to spring on the passersby below since its construction in 1883. The sculpture is the work of Edward Kemeys, who also created the Hudson Bay Wolves statue at the Philadelphia Zoo.
Kermeys' original concept was for the statue to look realistic in its positioning and blend in with the natural scenery. In keeping with his idea, it is one of the few Central Park statues without a plaque.
Still Hunt is located at 76th Street along the East Drive.
